Nymphs in their latter growth stage have been detected in the Proserpine region, and Queensland Department of Primary Industries is urging growers to check their properties and report any sightings to Biosecurity Queensland. Controlling locusts during the nymph stage is crucial to breaking their lifecycle and preventing large-scale locust outbreaks, and reduces the risk of a plague development.
