AUSVEG, along with BGGA, Plant Health Australia (PHA), Biosecurity Queensland and peak industry bodies will be holding a “Biosecurity Simulation” workshop in Bowen that provides astep-by-step look at how a biosecurity incursion is managed, what on-farm impacts and movement controls potentially may apply, and how communication with growers and industry occurs throughout the response. This is an important afternoon to learn exactly what a biosecurity response looks like in the NQ horticulture growing region, and the processes that may take place. Because a single biosecurity risk often threatens multiple commodities, all hort growers are invited to attend, including vegetables, melons and mangoes, and from the Burdekin, Gumlu and Bowen regions. This is a great opportunity to ask questions and see how a biosecurity scenario could unfold, and who plays what role to support you.
