14-17 July 2025 – Western Sydney University
Our Regional Development Officer, Richelle Kelly, attended last week’s masterclass which brought together growers, agronomists, and industry professionals for a deep dive into the science of soil health and biology. Hosted at Western Sydney University’s Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, the session explored the role of microbes, organic matter, and biological indicators in improving soil function and productivity.

Participants heard from leading researchers presenting their latest findings on soil microbiology, alongside growers who shared real-world insights into how they’ve applied soil health and biology principles in regenerative farming systems. The day featured hands-on demonstrations, practical strategy sharing, and an exclusive tour of the institute’s world-class research facilities, offering a behind-the-scenes look at cutting-edge soil and plant science in action.
The event reinforced the importance of understanding soil as a living system—and the power of biology to drive long-term farm resilience and productivity.
