1,000 New Pets Join the Class!🪱🌱
Helena recently visited Hamilton Island State School to help deliver an exciting classroom session on worm farming! Students were amazed to discover that 1,000 worms were about to move into their brand new school worm farm. A queue quickly formed as curious students lined up to spot the wriggly newcomers—some even wanted to double-check the worm count in disbelief that such a little amount of soil could have so many!
The class also tuned in to gardening legend Costa on TV, learning how to set up and care for their new “school pets.” And just like any good pet, these worms love to eat! With students enjoying daily fruit and veggie snacks, the leftover scraps now have a new purpose—reducing waste and helping the school garden thrive.
